there seems to be a bit of emo angst flying around at the mo, and general disillusionment with livejournal, of the 'what is the point' nature.

i keep my journal for barry and dan to use in complex goffic foreplay rituals so i can remember.

i can't write wonderfully (no actually, strike that, i can, but that is not for here......) but i also can't remember wonderfully (this bit is true). this is my version of a paper diary, typing is quicker and easier than writing things down, and the secret stuff is less easy for people to stumble upon.

oh yes, there is secret stuff on here ;P

tis also useful for help and advice and keeping in the loop etc etc

and the good old being nosey into other people's lives. i am constantly surprised by what is put up as public.

anyway, all i wanted to say, no matter what, i like my journal, it keeps me occupied at work and i am going to keep it :)

I suppose it is just I don't have the time to use it as a proper diary anymore, you are good at writing about what you have been upto - I don't get the chance anymore and that was what I really liked it for gig reviews/dishing the dirt on good nights out etc....

yes, work appears to have settled down enough for me to webskive ;)

i seem to end up just 'wooh' and 'rah' - ing these days, wonderful vocabulary, but i do often see what i was upto on a particular day and stuff....

Should you ever read The Entrouage [NO EQUAL] aka my friends list, yours is as good or better than most of the LJs on there (not that, of course, ANY of them are bad, because my friends roxxor like haxxors).

I've started to use mine for aimless rambling really- I think January Emo has set in across the country meaning that EVERYONE's LJ is either emoblatherings or metaphysics. However, I keep a paper diary as well, which I save for outbursts about my love life and/or work life and/or my relationships with my friends too angry, self-indulgent or melancholy to go in a public place. There's some stuff that isn't for LiveJournal. At the end of the day, my life is pretty well documented and if I didn't do both then yes, I would only forget.

I'm not sure what the point of all this is, but basically: I agree with what you say. Except I don't do private/friendsonly entries.

aye, i should cull all the writers and funny people from my friends list, then i'd feel better stupid...... ;)

hell, your paper diary = my (rare) private entries.

and friends stuff is used for things i shouldn't be saying that could get me in trouble if randomly googled for example.....

Fair enough.

ALTHOUGH! Irony is, I originally started Darkship as a way of venting about how shitty my relationship with Charlotte was at the time without being found out. I wasn't thinking that when I got the diary, but basically that was it (as you can tell if you [can be arsed to] read the June/July 2004 entries).

I meant your diary as opposed to your friends list- not sure if that was obvious in the original post.

In the sentence,

"Should you ever read The Entourage [NO EQUAL] aka my friends list, yours is as good or better than most of the LJs on there"

By "yours" I meant "your diary", not "your friends list".

Esyltt likes being a creature, and I should know, because I've read her diary.

i see, but i meant if i compared my journal to my friendslist i would feel hideously inadequate, and quite often do!

Oh I see. Yeah, reading [livejournal.com profile] fia5co or [livejournal.com profile] memorizeyrlines can have that effect on me. But then I just steal their jokes and gimmicks which transforms me into the world's most powerful LJer.
