good things
  • my birthday chilli plant is growing new fruit!! not only have i not killed it, it is doing what it should do. and is mighty tasty.
  • i have tickets for the blur reunion. i couldn't not. in fact, that may be my sister's christmas present sorted. i took her to mile end as one of her first gigs. bagsy not getting pulled over the front this time.
  • simon munnery's radio 4 pilot last night. loosely (very) based around the theme of relationships. featuring simon being v funny, and a lot of the excellent reginald d hunter. that man is somehow magical. you can't help but listen to him talk. i have NO idea what sort of show can be edited out of the hour or so of the two in conversation. especially when reg only realised right at the end with the audience q&a that he shouldn't have been swearing.
  • going to comedy with [livejournal.com profile] diamond_geyser. it's been too long since i did so properly.

    Interesting point you make there.

I have a huuuge crush on Reginald D Hunter. He's funny, but in a relaxed way, and his voice....well I won't tell you what his voice does to me.

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
oooh, i probably have an idea about his voice..... *whistles innocently*

he's an absolutely lovely guy too. i stewarded his show at the BAC a while back, and he bought us all a drink afterwards, and had a good old chat, and not in that 'tell me how wonderful i am' way either. like a *real* person. shocking.

    [identity profile] curiousbadger.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
Aw yes, Reg is lovely. Especially when he laughs at how much you can afford to pay him for a gig and then comes and does it anyway ;)

    Blur = too expensive :(

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
not for how totally amazing (my head says) it will be!

    [identity profile] suicideally.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
Was it me who got you the chilli plant? (I know I got someone one this year!) If so, glad you don't have my black thumb! I killed my rosemary and sage plants :(

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
yep, you did! it's very resilient! i may even have to give it a bigger pot!

(they're mighty tasty chillis too, have a proper kick.)

    [identity profile] suicideally.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
    Yay, that's excellent :)

I may attempt to keep a chilli plant next (although it keeps making me sad when I kill plants... I used to have a windowbox of herbs but it lept from my first floor windowsill to its death in the road!)

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
    oh noes, suicidal herbs :(

(i must confess, i think declan kept it alive for the first few weeks until i got into the habit of obsessively watering it as soon as i got in from work...)

HOWEVER there are some presale codes floating around today, and if you can't find one of those go here (http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/tickets) at 9am tomorrow where there's another presale.

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
i have been sadly neglecting the porridge trials of late. next one - friday!

(chilli porridge could actually work, i think...)

    [identity profile] green-badger.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:27 am (UTC)(link)

Oh I wish I had known about the Simon Munnery thingy. I flipping love him. I have been rubbish at going out this year.

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
ah, i can't claim to have been the organised one about it.... it'd be great if he got commissioned!

    [identity profile] stoopidbird.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmmmmmmmm *strokey chin* I know you received the present but...any idea where one might procure a chili plant from?

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
no idea i'm afraid! a garden centre? the planty gifty bit in m&s? (or ask ally ;) )

    [identity profile] col-d.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought the Blur reunion was just a rumour, until our old friend Mr Spears mentioned it in Dublin last night

I thought reunions were for bands where none of the members had anything to do... thought Albarn was keeping himself busy.

where's the Boo Radleys reunion? hmph

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
nah, they've been on about it on teh radio the last couple of weeks! coming along....?

maybe dave was the instigator ;)

it is quite possibly the case that the last time i saw the boos was at a blur gig, in fact.

Re: don't follow English politics that closely ;o)

    [identity profile] col-d.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
saw something about Glastonbury, is all. Don't think I wanna spend that much money*, I imagine they'll play a gig here eventually. Either way, at least I've seen Blur live before! don't think I knew the Boos once supported Blur..

*=already have an eye on going over for The Bluetones playing their debut album in full on the 19th, not least with The Brothers Movement supporting The Black Angels, also on London, the night before, but even that trip is unlikely for me. Oops, Martin Carr played on Monday night.

Re: don't follow English politics that closely ;o)

    [identity profile] shewho.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
bluetones eh? where? which month? how much?

i'm pretty sure the line up at mile end was something like dodgy / sparks / cardiacs / boo radleys / blur...

Re: don't follow English politics that closely ;o)

    [identity profile] col-d.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
ehh, Astoria, December 19, £20+ - ticketmaster says it has no tickets but there's another site selling them I found a link for via the band's website

I wanna see Dodgy, too! never saw them, although the Boos is who I really want to see

Re: don't follow English politics that closely ;o)

ah, this side of xmas. unlikely. DAMN if i'd known about that before...
