the office smells of actual paint today, it's delicious. (to smell, i mean, i haven't tasted it. yet.)

xxx

is it bad to be dreaming of getting home and tasty dinner already? really? lunch fail again. remembered to pick up fruit x3, forgot to pick up roast veg for couscous. i *could* have plain cous cous, but really, no.

xxx

bright club last night was BRILLIANT. the combination of METAL (\m/), scientists and men with gold penises worked perfectly. and there were plenty of teases at my favourite songs. i need more metal in my life.

xxx

another reason i'm looking forward to home, is that the last episode of season 3 of l&o awaits me! whooo! i've (almost) managed 3 years worth of telly in 3 months! only another 284 odd hours to go! that's, er, only 12 whole days..... oh dear.

xxx

(no, i don't have much to say for myself at the moment. trauma, trauma, who am i if i am not a sozzled old hag?)

i'm sparing you most of it. yesterday i almost posted about whether i should by a pair of choos or a maine coon. ahem.

i spent most of yesterday afternoon trying to rescue a bee. not any bee, no. we found the most ENORMOUS bumblebee creature buzzing around the lights in the kitchen at work. i think it must have been living behind the microwave, it was that immense.

and then we did science! using my handy torch. turned off all the lights, and got the bee to follow the torchlight across the floor. it was almost as if we were communicating, the bee and me. well, they don't call me queen bee for nothing. (at all.)

anyway, plan was doomed to failure once the stupid creature got to reception and saw the windows.

i can't watch bees headbutt themselves on glass for long, i find it heartbreaking.

the old glass and paper trick was employed, and i sent him on his way. just as the heavens opened. i hope he was alright.

***

also yesterday i saw a rather good twelfth night at the regent's park open air theatre. tasty food. tasty wine. (NB if you are trying to kill yourself with coughing, a sip of wine at appropriate moments works much better at stopping you than a sip of water.) funny show. most excellent fool. NO RAIN.

***

previously i saw the ska and ed byrne doing edinburgh previews on a boat. amos hadn't really got very far, in terms of, well, anything, but was funny nonetheless. mr byrne set me off into feminist rage. i don't think it was his fault, really, more likely the wine.

ho hum.

Still a bit brassic though. Hopefully to be sorted by Tuesday. Will have to practice moderation this weekend, must learn how to cope with finances.

[livejournal.com profile] angelv and [livejournal.com profile] moleintheground are well wick.
♥ white wine and nurofen may help my back, but it doesn't half make me babble.
♥ i am still chargerless for my shiny mobile, [livejournal.com profile] hoshuteki, do you perhaps have one?
♥ it was lovely last night to see [livejournal.com profile] mrs_leroy_brown and [livejournal.com profile] sbp lazily round the corner from my work in the Lord Nelson, which has indeed become rather ace. I think I shall be visiting there again.

Haha, it’s good to have an outlet for my nagging that isn’t dear [livejournal.com profile] p_dan_tic. Today I have (email) brownie points from my boss for my gentle (for me!) nag about tidying some drawings up. Validation! More! Validate me! Please?

Ahem.

***

Late notice I know, but I’m going to see Gilbert & George today. No two ways about it. The rest of my weekend is too hectic (thanks mum for the notice, grrrr). So, if you’re in the area about 1pm let me know, although I’m very happy bumbling around the Tate on my own anyway.

***

Why is everyone wearing a horrible plastic version of operating theatre clogs as sandals? They’re the ugliest things I’ve ever seen.

***

House was rather ace last night. Best start to an episode ever! Until the overly schmaltzy ending. Ho hum.

***

[livejournal.com profile] private_dick is back, hurrah! I need never be bored of the internets again. (I’m not even going to get a chance to read it all properly today, boo. Stupid blinking asbestos. Stupid blinking children. Grrr. I might turn myself off again today, don’t worry.)

***

Oh, and half price Yo! Sushi over the bank holiday weekend, hurrah! Go here for details and to sign up.

***

Last one, [livejournal.com profile] mupstasia, is there a pre Diamanda Galas meet up plan for Monday?

Dentists again this morning. He wasn't drunk or hungover! In fact, he appears to be Swedish. I'm not sure why this is comforting. He also keeps getting, and answering, phone calls whilst he has a drill in my mouth. Hmmm.

Anyway, I'm all fillinged up, and happy. Back in 6 months. White fillings are ace, and in fact were even less expensive than I feared, as apparently I've had 4, not 3. Eeep. The topography of my mouth feels very strange though, all those weird spikey bits that I can't help feeling with my tongue have gone! What shall I play with now? Oh yeah, I still have my (comfort blanket) tongue stud :)

***

Took a top back to Top Shop on my way into work (I shouldn't have done this, in fact I shouldn't be here, am Very Behind and desperately trying to catch up!) and had a look at some of the Kate Moss* stuff. Errr, what's the fuss chaps? Not. Impressed. Although the yellow and black stripey hotpants are quite cute. Must not tempt self. Will be 30 next year. Cut down on hotpants!

***

There's a lot more stuff going through my mind, about body image and all sorts, but a)I don't want to seem like the stupid version of [livejournal.com profile] perfectlyvague and b)I'm a bit private about that sort of thing, so I'll more than likely stick it in a private entry.

Instead, I'll tell you that I keep hearing Fall Out Boy on the iPod on shuffle, and thinking "oooh this is good, who's this? lovely melodic rock..." I have gone beyond the realms of help. Oh well!

***

Oh and I made a feed for Ron if you want it: [livejournal.com profile] ronaldxrss

And and! Gilbert & George @ Tate Modern finish soon don't they? Is there an organised plan? If not, I may pop in on a lunchbreak.....

* [livejournal.com profile] shewho fact for all you fact fans! Kate was at my school. Sort of. She was final year when I was first year. Vogue magazine came along one day and took pictures of the football team. Fun times!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] 1423 I am rediscovering Resonance fm. I am also rediscovering the funny looks colleagues give you when they hear it in the background of your office.

*****

This morning, the dancing Justin Timberlake at Liverpool Street Station appeared to be dancing perfectly in time to my walkman. The song? Fall at Your Feet by Crowded House. No, I'm not sure quite how that works either.

I'm Justin Timberlake, and I'm Bringing Sexy Back.

*****

Last night, I made a tail and finally bodged together all my fancy dress bits and bobs. I'm quite impressed with my rubbish, though I won't look cool in anyway. Not sure quite how to sort out my hair, but getting there. I wonder if people will laugh at me on the r@petrain Silverlink?

*****

Shocking discovery of the week - if you are sensibly in bed by 11 every night, getting up isn't so painful, you make the early train and are in work on time, and feel much more with it all day.

Well, either because of this, or because of the fact there is finally heat in the office. No, I don't mean the magazine.

I considered taking a sickie today. I considered the possibility long and hard. I realised I had things to do, and decided against it.

Which was quite foolish, as it happens.

Not only were there NO TRAINS from Walthamstow Central, but there were no tubes either. Not starting until Hackney / Kings Cross respectively.

Little bit of a problem.

So, instead of a handy short train and a bus to work I did this:

- walk to station
- see crowds of people going the other way, find the boy and walk away from the station
- hideously overcrowded bus to Leytonstone
- get on central line at Leytonstone
- get off central line at Leytonstone, the train is defective
- get on central line at Leytonstone *again*, 2 full trains of people crammed on one train
- get out at Stratford
- get on Jubilee line (this bit relatively painless)
- get out at Southwark
- get to work about the same time as if I had made the train that didn't exist.

Hmmmm........

I like that :)

Other things I like and will recommend wholeheartedly to all:

♥ sunday dim sum at The Royal China. Tastiest dim sum I have EVER eaten, and a veritable banquet is deliciously inexpensive.

♥ sitting in parks.

Pappagone pizza and chilli oil.

♥ Pappagone in general - impromptu cheese plates!

NOT watching Alone in the Dark, which is a pretty bad film. Still, I watch worse on Hallmark, and Slater gets his top off.*

♥ that lovely Nikita (?) girl on X Factor, singing her heart out for her (deceased) mother and giving me goosebumps.

♥ Paul Foot's ideas for his 'Guild of Connoissers'. Murder mystery fun! Hiring himself out to turn up to random things! Medaeval banquets! **

* I am going off Slater. Yes, yes, about time. But really, either he is the most professional actor in the world (performing straight and pretty well in such a lame film), or he actually thought it was good. And having seen his over-the-top-shouty-american-enthusiasm on Britain's Top Model I'm plumping for the latter.

** I cannot recommend Paul Foot's comedy I am afraid.

but work is a blinking messy nightmare as today we *are* actually hefting furniture and moving offices. chaos, of course. i can't even re-set my desk up as i fear it is to be moved again as we don't quite fit in

life continues apace, with my aim of no more than one night in a week being met with gin and valour.

things are Very Very Busy in general (we are booking up to NOVEMBER people!), and we are finding it hard to find a time to get to Finland, and I

really really really really

want to go to Finland.

*sigh*

Dirty.

Dusty.

Sneezy.

So. Much. More. To. Do.

(if you need me urgently for any reason you should probably use my mobile. my contact details are in my first ever entry. why you'd need me urgently i don't know, but meh.)
