good things
  • my birthday chilli plant is growing new fruit!! not only have i not killed it, it is doing what it should do. and is mighty tasty.
  • i have tickets for the blur reunion. i couldn't not. in fact, that may be my sister's christmas present sorted. i took her to mile end as one of her first gigs. bagsy not getting pulled over the front this time.
  • simon munnery's radio 4 pilot last night. loosely (very) based around the theme of relationships. featuring simon being v funny, and a lot of the excellent reginald d hunter. that man is somehow magical. you can't help but listen to him talk. i have NO idea what sort of show can be edited out of the hour or so of the two in conversation. especially when reg only realised right at the end with the audience q&a that he shouldn't have been swearing.
  • going to comedy with [livejournal.com profile] diamond_geyser. it's been too long since i did so properly.

...i don't have much to say today. went to a radio recording last night at the beeb for tim minchin's christmas show. twas very good indeed. he's got a lot of crazy teenage stalkers who make scary dolls of him. trufax. make me look completely sane. at least i only get drunk and talk harmless nonsense, ahem.

    ***

more importantly than that, however, is that there is a brilliant thing tonight! are you at a loose end? then you should totally come to clockwork comedy, at clockwork (on pentonville road), tonight, 8pm. [livejournal.com profile] curiousbadger and [livejournal.com profile] drasticsturgeon present an amazing line up of excellent comedy, from michael legge (mc), james kettle, steve hall and reginald d hunter. and if that isn't enough to tempt you up there, you get to see me and give me your cash monies on the door.

how can you possibly say no. see you there, yes?

    kisskiss

    ***

p.s. please stop challenging me at facebook chess, i'm really, really woeful and only put it there to stop my eyes becoming scrabble shaped!

Dear the internet, I am feeling ridiculously out of sorts and tearful this morning. I am well aware this is due to a deadly combination of post-weekenditis (which always does tend to hit me on Tuesdays), stupid hormones, and general situations, but there's not much I can do about that at the moment, so you're going to have to be nice to me instead.

    ****

Other than that, you should all listen to Mark Watson's radio show (BBC4) which is brilliant. Well, seeing it recorded live is brilliant, I haven't heard the edit, but I would predict a lot of goodness. Tims Key and Minchin are adorable.

    ****

Quick catch up with a good friend tonight after work. Shall endeavour not to weep on her shoulder. No wine for me!

    ****

I still have 2 spare Manics tickets for the Forum on 29th May. I think first dibs go to wilteddaffodial / stephens if you want them, then suicideally, but I already have some for me, and am not quite schizophrenic enough to pass off as 3 people.......

    ****

(Oh yeah, comments screened because I hate it when I'm whiny.)

♥ Jamelia has a fantastic voice, and some top tunes. I'm still rubbish at copying her on SingStar. She also appears to be a lovely person.

    ♥ John Hegley remains ace.

    ♥ I am a drunkard.

    First order of business:

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS to [livejournal.com profile] ms_cc and my little brother who is currently living it up with Thai ladyboys. Enjoy!

    ****

    Second order of business:

My mobile appears to be dead and the charger is in Nottingham. If you need me, email / lj only.

    ****

    Third order of business:

Gratuitously whingy and mopey rubbish from last night deleted. Needless to say I spent far too long last night watching Law & Order and reading Insomnia by Stephen King, neither of which was a particularly good idea when my inability to sleep is due to being irrationally scared of a)the boogeyman and b)being murdered in my own bed. Idiot.

    ****

    Fourth order of business:

The Lee Mack Show is very funny indeed. Lovely Andy Bell is quite fantastic, but I should really not be allowed to attempt to talk to people. Lovely Andy Bell >>> confused and bemused Andy Bell.

Oh well! A Little Respect, Sometimes and Blondie's One Way or Another. Wicked stuff.

    ****

    Any Other Business:

Resonance fm this morning is PROGTASTIC! I feel a little dirty for enjoying it so.

There are still some unguessed lyrics here, although I probably don't expect you to know them unless you either like Macca or Gary le Strange, or are Dan, who has failed to get ones I thought only he would get anyway. Ah well!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] 1423 I am rediscovering Resonance fm. I am also rediscovering the funny looks colleagues give you when they hear it in the background of your office.

    *****

This morning, the dancing Justin Timberlake at Liverpool Street Station appeared to be dancing perfectly in time to my walkman. The song? Fall at Your Feet by Crowded House. No, I'm not sure quite how that works either.

I'm Justin Timberlake, and I'm Bringing Sexy Back.

    *****

Last night, I made a tail and finally bodged together all my fancy dress bits and bobs. I'm quite impressed with my rubbish, though I won't look cool in anyway. Not sure quite how to sort out my hair, but getting there. I wonder if people will laugh at me on the r@petrain Silverlink?

    *****

Shocking discovery of the week - if you are sensibly in bed by 11 every night, getting up isn't so painful, you make the early train and are in work on time, and feel much more with it all day.

Well, either because of this, or because of the fact there is finally heat in the office. No, I don't mean the magazine.

If I said to you that I'd spent a lot of last night with a binbag over my head being short of breath, you'd be forgiven for thinking I may have done a Michael Hutchence*.

However, I was just dressed as a creepy skeleton for the radio. Yes yes. That'll be me, and also Russell Howard 'giving it' to [livejournal.com profile] unskinny_bop. Binbag mask (covered in green and EYES not pictured). Larks a plenty.

In fact, if you tune into Radio 2 on Saturday 28th October about 1pm**, you will probably hear me taking part in an evil laugh contest (which I lost, booo).

And then Mim winning the halloween costume contents. I am SO middle class and 'make and do' in my upbringing that creating a skeleton from bin bags*** in half an hour is a piece of piddle. And good fun! My [creative] juices are flowing! Timed deadlines and competion = shewho heaven!

(Even if you don't tune in to hear me laugh, you should anyway, tis funny and you'll get to hear Mark Watson, Dan Antopolski, Jo Neary, Justin Edwards &c &c.....)

    - i really like jo neary's stuff.

    - i thought radio would be safe from dan antopolski's hairy belly. i was wrong :/
