Hee, Right Now I am being incredibly amused at how one (of my many) game(s) of scrabble is spawning words such as pornier, moan and labia, whilst another is favouring words such as rotter and egad.

I shall keep you aprised of further developments.

Ahem.

The dreaming subconscious is brilliant, isn’t it? Last night, my brain realised I was sprawled across the bed in an unusual spread-eagled fashion, and that I’d wake up all stiff and sore. Instead of calmly moving / waking me, it sent me a dream in which I was an Asian male* and going parachuting. However, my ‘chute failed to open, and I sped towards the earth** and smashed into it, landing in a (you’ve guessed it) bizarrely spread-eagled fashion - exactly the same as I was actually lying in. People tried to move my legs, but they were stuck and painful. And thus I woke up, and curled into my typical foetal sleeping pose, before nodding off again.

Woke up again as D came home***, only to drift off into a dream about watching Drugstore live, with Thom Yorke playing guitar and not singing (??) to El Presidente. Dream only notable for Isabelle Drugstore looking not like herself but my friend TM’s mother, and a lot of crowd walk-outs, causing a Thom Yorke rant, and a sensible audience heckle.

Last night, an early repast of strange tapas creatures (the cheese based things are best. Cheese, posh ham and quince jelly ftw!) and a chat with [livejournal.com profile] green_badger****. Home in time for ER, how reasonable! Anyway ER, bleak bleak bleak. Although if you overload ALL the main characters with the bleak***** like that it detracts from every single storyline you peons. Cuh.

On the way home I discovered that the prime time to play Phoenix Wright is whilst on a train or a Victoria Line tube to Walthamstow, after at least half a bottle of wine. I’m not sure if it’s because of these journeys being particularly conducive to gameplay, whether I’ve just coincidentally just got to a bunch of dialogue each time and am not really *doing* anything, whether wine increases my clever reasoning, or, most likely, whether being a teeny bit inebriated makes me as stupid as stupid Phoenix Wright. Edgeworth is still hot, despite my theory that makes him the super bad guy. Almost finished too.

Phoenix Wright is an idiot!

The most annoying thing about this game is how easy it *should* be. I’ve known how the murder I’m currently playing was committed since stupidly early into the stage, and (I think!) who masterminded it and why since before it happened.

But I can’t get through it! I know where the blinking clues actually are, but can’t get to them without talking to the right person who’ll then point me to where I know the clue is ALREADY DAMMNIT and miraculously I’ll now be able to see something I couldn’t see before EVEN THOUGH I LOOKED.

I find this *incredibly* frustrating, obviously. And I’m not sure if this makes me excellent at playing the game, because I know what and who and why and how, or completely rubbish, because I can’t get there. Am I superbly blessed with logic, or making great leaps of faith?*

The game is far too linear for my brain.

Either way, Phoenix is an IDIOT I tell you, an idiot.

***

Last night, post Doom, I sat in front of the glorious combination of House, ER and Boston Legal whilst playing the aforementioned game.

It is *wrong* to find aged, bloated James Spader (and to a certain extent William Shatner, blimey!) attractive, isn’t it? I suppose I actually mean Alan whatsit and Denny Crane, which is a different thing. Man, Boston Legal :)

***

This weekend looks like containing a healthy mix of dinner, karaoke, doctor who, indie clubbing, painting & decorating and children’s comedy. Thank goodness I don’t have to work, mwahahaha.

***

And because I’m facing a long Friday with no company (again!), here is an attention seeking poll.

[Poll #956885]

*I did this with House last night as well, the conclusion was OBVIOUS duh brain. Either I’m a fantastic diagnostician or I watch too much telly. I think I watch too much telly.

Oh man! It is SO TEMPTING to open spam sent by ‘Sith Lord’, but I am not quite an idiot. SO TEMPTING.

I don’t know whether it’s the lighter mornings, or the fact that the iPod is playing favourites with The Golden Mile, but I’m finding myself really REALLY liking My Life Story. When Sparkle appears on shuffle I have to listen to it at least 3 times before I’m satisfied. And try very hard not to sing joyfully out loud. (Usually failing.) And try not to sing at an inappropriate volume. (Usually failing.) And try hard not to sing in a bad Jake Shillingford impression. (I can just about stop myself doing this!) I’ve also fallen completely in love (hah, how perfectly apt!) with I Dive (and whatever the bit in brackets is). Which is weird, as usually songs that reference the singer by name make me MAD. Perhaps he gets away with it as he’s ‘quoting’ someone. Yeah, right. Grammar in a song bothering me? I just love it.

Also, loving Tanya Donnelly – Goat Girl (”I wanted a lion but I ended up with a man who wanted a gazelle, I am a goat girl, I am a goat girl and I do my brutish best…”)

And I think that El Presidente really does *need* those additional Thom Yorke vocals.

Ace restaurant in Walthamstow shocker! Last night to Priya, a South Indian / Sri Lankan restaurant. I can highly recommend this place! Friendly staff happy to have a joke with you, explaining the menu as much as you want them to, relaxed and laid back. Yummy bargainous food! The boy actually liked a curry based meal, which is astounding. The menu was full of things I didn’t recognise, as apparently the cuisine is quite different to normal curry places, so I went for random things as I like to do. Gorgeous onion dosai with stew and pickles to start. And a beautiful fish curry (south Indian style) with pilau rice and garlic naan. No idea what fish was in the curry except it was chunky and tasty and meaty, and I’m not sure exactly how the spices differ but I think it was subtly different to things I’ve had before.

Either way, big thumbs up, and there shall be return visits, oh yes there will!

Even though I should probably be Brain Training instead so I can STOP DYING KTHXBY.

Edit: PW2 update! Go me. Trial day 1 sorted. Back off to Kurain Village. Tomorrow lunchtime, I think. Also - I didn't realise that Udgey took different amounts of life off each time, doh!

Ladies and gentlemen, if you are in a bit of a tired mard for no good reason, I can highly recommend listening to Demetri Martin on the commute to work. Even the pain of not getting a seat is diminished, and I hardly noticed the people staring at me whilst I was chuckling…..

(Shared iTunes = the epitome of ‘what’s mine is yours / what’s yours is mine’ :) )

****

Anyway, have we all got over V-Day yet? I’ve never been a huge follower. I don’t really mind either way to be honest! Last year I took the boy to a posh hotel for a lovely posh dinner in beds, which was fun, but this year, well, nothing says ‘I love you’ like some tasty crispy aromatic duck and a DVD. Ahem.

Best In Show is much better than I’d expected it to be, and while the outcomes may have been *slightly* obvious we were still rooting for them. It did have the unexpected side effect of making me really want a husky though. Sorry old English sheepdogs!

****

I’ve been playing SingStar Legends on my own a bit of late, trying to remember how to sing in time for the weekend. To make it more interesting, I only ever select songs on random, but this does mean the darned thing keeps trying to make me sing Morrissey, argh!

****

While I’m here, I’d just like to slap some sense into myself and apologise for the rubbish tone on this journal of late. My head’s been a bit all over the place, but it’ll sort itself out one way or another… :)

*And now I want to sing about asses, oh dear!

So. Months of hype. Overexcitability. Shiney red shoes. On Monday, I finally got to see Wicked at the Victoria Apollo. My wonderfully cheap dress circle preview tickets had a FANTASTIC view, I urge you all to book scarily in advance for these ace deals :)

But what did I think of the actual show? I should probably cut this in case it has spoilers for Wicked the musical, Wicked the book, or general Oz mythology, although if you don't know most of this nonsense you are obviously very good at steering my conversations elsewhere. Onto Wings, perhaps. Anyway....... )

In conclusion: a damn fine night out, but I think I'd have enjoyed it more had I not expected it to be true to the book. It is a good show, and a good story, but it isn't really Wicked. Does that make sense? I don't think I'm going to spend a fortune going again, at any rate....

I was feeling grumpy last night, prepared to be let down by Marion. However, a mini pub crawl of Camden and chance meeting with [livejournal.com profile] angelv and sibling later things weren't so bad. And, like one of those rude people I hate, I forced myself down towards the front of the Barfly (where all the [livejournal.com profile] ljusers in the world were) before they came on.

Cor, and I loved it so much more than Bath! Perhaps due to not having to look after acid-flying friends, perhaps because I knew how to get home, perhaps I've heard the new songs more. But ahhhhhh, 'Time', 'Fallen Through', 'Sleep', 'Sparkle', all good stuff. And I think I'm falling in love with 'Crystal Blue'. They're still the same old Marion, and Jaime appears to have one of those 'colds' (oh dear), by which I mean I love them dearly, but can't see how they are relevant to *now*, or what they're trying to be.

much as i loathe the summer, despite it containing my birthday, summer weekends do have the potential to be amazingly magickal.

this weekend contained, in no particular magickal order:

[livejournal.com profile] fugitvemotel's birthday drinks at the faltering fullback with football on t'telly.

♥ dancing to [livejournal.com profile] dr_f_dellamorte and co in a bar in Hoxton that wasn't full of gunts and was actually much fun.

BONVING!!!! or more accurately spectating at the bonving in Regents Park whilst drinking champagne and eating strawberries.

♥ playing in the sandpit, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] thechild. You should have seen our castle! it was HUGE! though we did have a bit of help from a crack team of Kosovan labourers and a small child that followed me around silently. hmmmmm.

slimelight. yeah yeah, shudduppaya face.

♥ early morning wandering through Dalston in search of cider. it already being baking and only 5am or so.... market traders doing things......

♥ party with ace folk until well into sunday.

♥ my first ever visit to the open air theatre in Regents Park - what a glorious venue! surrounded by trees, sitting in the end of the sun towards the end of the day watching my top magickal thing of the weekend.....

♥ ....which was Daniel Kitson. marvellous, absolutely marvellous. first half comprising a set of excellent stand up, second half being told stories in the dark with tears rolling down my face, interspersed with songs from a chap whose name i have forgotten but with a lovely voice and a guitar.

Seriously, chaps, that was the happiest i have been in a long time. i love that man. i may be feeling post-weekend toxic, but i'm still up there.....

♥ I have sent a 'possibly' response to teh wrestling ref course.

To say:

1. Come to [livejournal.com profile] bmovie on Friday! It is 80s NIGHT and will be brilliant. And dress like a Lost Boy. MrrrRrrrrrr.....

2. Belated birthday wishes to [livejournal.com profile] bluekieran for Saturday, hope BS&Q was fabulous. I was too broken to leave the house.

3. Come to think of it, leaving the house is looking less and less likely. I have become addicted to Animal Crossing. Indeed, mostly I am addicted to trying to catch all varieties of fish in Animal Crossing. This may take all year.

4. Yes, I am aware the DS is portable.

5. Having said that, D is on call all week, so clearly I am trying to spend as much time out as possible like the bad person I am. It *is* Monday Club tonight, isn't it?

;)

6. In your face! tube strike. You all appear to be working fine and dandy. However the morning overland train isn't as unpleasant as I had expected, and the stroll in from L'pool Street was quite refreshing. I may do this more often.

7. Expect a big, drunken, 1-PW (?) wrestling entry later.
