I'm not dead yet, you know.

Just a little lacklustre right now.

In between extreme exhaustion, breaking self merrily, body deciding to break for NO GOOD REASON, and losing* all my useful things I have been mostly failing to get out to all the fun things I want to do.

THIS CANNOT CONTINUE.

By Friday I will have shaken myself out of it and given myself a stern talking to and all will be well again.

And by then, I may even get it together enough to update the internet about Latitude and Edinburgh. Maybe.

***

I too need a costume idea for Bestival. I have no time to sort anything seriously good out. The theme is under the sea. One day I shall recycle rubbish pirate, and I'd really like to be a mermaid, but this needs thinking.

[livejournal.com profile] obsessivekaty - did the wonderful Jane Asher book have an easy mermaid in it, or is that my imagination?

***

In other news, apparently I have exactly the same smile as my mother. Creepy.

* Well, left them in other houses.

i sometimes hate the fact i get so hooked on a particular idea, until i can't do anything else, or a particular thing that may or may not have happened, until i believe it's true.

see christian-monday-club and his leather trousers. see paul trap wanting to steal my gin slash shoes.

i desperately want to manage to pull off a fancy dress kali costume. to the extent i am considering blue-ing up and being semi naked (!!!!! let's not be silly!!!!!) or buying a hentai costume from the internet (!!!!!argh!!!!!).

stupid brain.

Ever since I found out that the high scoring two-letter scrabble 'word' ZA is allegedly slang for pizZA (I mostly refuse to play a word if I don't know what it means) I have been jonesing for some ZA action. And lo, verily, god [livejournal.com profile] my_red_dream did speak to me and say "you will be favoured on the fourth day of the ninth month, for it is my birthday and I decree there will be ZA!"...

...and so we all went to Pappagone last night to celebrate. And it was lovely and there were people I don't see often (and usually then fleetingly in loud clubs) and indeed there was ZA (Americano with extra anchovies and LOVELY CHILLI OIL) and wine and ace. Hurrah!

Lovely evening, innit. And last r@petrain home for me.

***

Today I am mostly friending people on Facebook to get more games of Scrabble, oh dear oh dear, addiction STRIKES AGAIN.

Tonight I am running stupid errands in the deepest south, though I do get to see JJM, most excellent person that he is. YAY.

At some point I should really get organised and pack for Bestival, though I can't work out when. I'll probably do it tomorrow morning. Potential outfits include Dorothy Gale, Batgirl, and random piratey wench. Minimum effort required. I am NOT feeling the love.

OH MY LIFE. ACENESS. [livejournal.com profile] curiousbadger, you should definitely have a look.

also, i have cheated at life and *bought* a fancy dress costume. someone needs to have a superheroes fancy dress party so i can wear it. failing that, [livejournal.com profile] glamgothruthy, as long as i wear a *mask* to your birthday, it counts, right?

***

Hahaha, pleb alert. They're playing The Planets on the radio, and I just caught myself thinking "why oh why oh why is there a classical version of Joybringer by Manfred Mann's Earth Band?"

Doh! Brain!

Dear Anon,

Imagine my surprise this morning on opening my inbox to find I had been given a permanent account! Umm, blimey!

My first, somewhat churlish, response was ‘why would someone spend that much on me and not buy me shoes / a tasty posh dinner / a night out on the gin / some serious getting Well Mash Up on shopping’, which was a little harsh of me.

My second, somewhat impish, response was ‘hahaha now I’m going to delete my account’, accompanied by evil grin.

My third, possibly more considered, response is to think wow! Someone obviously likes my online presence enough to want to make sure I stay around, and I am now feeling genuinely touched. Look, my reactivated Paul icon up there somewhere ^^^ is saying it better :)

So thank you kindly, whoever you are! Umm, comments are screened and anon enabled and non-bugged if you want to say anything further.

Lotsalove,

Last night then, to see the mighty We Are Klang at the Pleasance, in the form of a Dick Party (I’m so keeping *that* ticket stub!) aka a clip show type affair of bits of previous shows. I love Klang with my heart. I love their shambolic corpsing and their joyous silliness and filth and I can watch them again and again and again aaaaaah. Monkeys and AIDS and musicals ARE good for comedy, hell yeah.

Unfortunately I had back issues which I combated (successfully) with a combination of painkillers, white wine, and cheesy chips, which led to me getting over excited about my magnetic pointy stick again, and being obnoxious to my nearest and dearest. Ack.

Even more unfortunately, I appear to have left the bodice I was making for Green Feet on a bus. The number 63, I think. WOE!!!! I guess that puts the kibosh on that then. Skirt and collar and not much else. Well, something I own already. I am AN IDIOT.

ETA: do you want to stay screened, secret anon? I still don't know who you are, and you've cunningly disguised yourself vocabulary-wise innit...

The best thing this weekend was getting an email asking if I wanted to go to a Dick Party. Of course, the only possible answer to that question is HELL YEAH! BAYUUUUUP. Ah, joy!

***

It’s been an interesting weekend, in which I have spectacularly failed to do most of the things I planned to do. Things I did do, however:

Friday
  • Drinkies in the Foundry. Absinthe & lemonade is rather delicious!

  • Bedroom Bar! Dancing! Drinking! Lounging on beds with ace people! Leaving at a sensible(ish) hour! Ah, I always have an ace night there.

  • ***

    Saturday
  • Lovely drinkies in the Chandos for [livejournal.com profile] yiskah’s birthday.

  • Toasties! YEAH!

  • Falling over. BOO

  • Attempting to fall over repeatedly! I don’t understand. Perhaps my shoes were too small and my blood not alcoholic enough.

  • Home for Doctor Who (meh, although I can’t really comment due to repeated closing of eyes) and pizza and getting ready for [livejournal.com profile] slaughterhaus5

  • Schoolboy (girl?) Error!!! Lying down. Dozing. Did make it to the bus stop, bus didn’t appear. Went back home. Slept. On a Saturnight! Rubbish.

  • Sweet, sweet, sleep.

  • ***

    Sunday
  • The day of being stood up!

  • Yoga is cancelled, as I am almost ready for it. Gah!

  • Tea and cookies is postponed.

  • I don’t mind, and crack on with serious sewing. Only broke 2 of my machine needles! Well, you try sewing hugely gathered denim and see what happens! End result = basic skirt shape. Now to faff around with ‘windows’ and get some boning and make an underskirt out of the sheet I ruined in the washing machine. Recycle baybee, yeah!

  • Also manage to deconstruct bodice and start cutting pieces out of actual t-shirts. Wheeee! I can do this! Discover wedding decorations are perfect for lining too. More recycling! Yeah!

  • Bloomsbury Ballroom for CocoRosie. The venue is weird, but somehow beautiful. The mirrorballs make me sick. The weird kitchen / diner makes me happy. Bump into [livejournal.com profile] lanarak and friends.

  • Rio en Mendio or something similar is all girlish voice and quiet noise and pretty fey. Enjoy muchly.

  • Tez is a human beatbox. He’s good, but I’ve seen Beardyman….

  • CocoRosie are entrancing and mesmerising and weirdly vocalled. Tez comes into his own as their ‘percussion’ for the evening. I want to learn the harp. It’s dancy and ethereal and absolutely marvellous. Well done there.

  • Hipsters, however, appear to get dirtier, and more stupid-haired every day. Cuh.

    Monday
Ah, I’m in a shockingly good mood today dear livejournal. (Well, I was....)

♥ Perhaps the recent woe was rooted in hormones. (I should check these things really but I’m far too lazy…)
♥ Perhaps I’m happy due to a decent nights sleep?
♥ Perhaps it has something to do with the fact I’m currently sleeping in this.
♥ Perhaps it’s due to my copy of [livejournal.com profile] yiskah’s book arriving, new read for the commute that doesn’t make me angry!
♥ Perhaps it’s due to some [livejournal.com profile] moocards arriving, though eh, they didn’t quite do what I told them to, and I have no idea what to use them for!
♥ Perhaps it’s due to Republic of Loose English tour dates I can actually get to! If you’re at a loose end 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th July, you should go see them. I think I can do the 3rd.
♥ Perhaps it’s due to my face popping up all over facebook, how entertaining. (Actually, normally this would make me cry…)

What’s keeping you cheery today, dear internet?

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] 1423 I am rediscovering Resonance fm. I am also rediscovering the funny looks colleagues give you when they hear it in the background of your office.

    *****

This morning, the dancing Justin Timberlake at Liverpool Street Station appeared to be dancing perfectly in time to my walkman. The song? Fall at Your Feet by Crowded House. No, I'm not sure quite how that works either.

I'm Justin Timberlake, and I'm Bringing Sexy Back.

    *****

Last night, I made a tail and finally bodged together all my fancy dress bits and bobs. I'm quite impressed with my rubbish, though I won't look cool in anyway. Not sure quite how to sort out my hair, but getting there. I wonder if people will laugh at me on the r@petrain Silverlink?

    *****

Shocking discovery of the week - if you are sensibly in bed by 11 every night, getting up isn't so painful, you make the early train and are in work on time, and feel much more with it all day.

Well, either because of this, or because of the fact there is finally heat in the office. No, I don't mean the magazine.

If I said to you that I'd spent a lot of last night with a binbag over my head being short of breath, you'd be forgiven for thinking I may have done a Michael Hutchence*.

However, I was just dressed as a creepy skeleton for the radio. Yes yes. That'll be me, and also Russell Howard 'giving it' to [livejournal.com profile] unskinny_bop. Binbag mask (covered in green and EYES not pictured). Larks a plenty.

In fact, if you tune into Radio 2 on Saturday 28th October about 1pm**, you will probably hear me taking part in an evil laugh contest (which I lost, booo).

And then Mim winning the halloween costume contents. I am SO middle class and 'make and do' in my upbringing that creating a skeleton from bin bags*** in half an hour is a piece of piddle. And good fun! My [creative] juices are flowing! Timed deadlines and competion = shewho heaven!

(Even if you don't tune in to hear me laugh, you should anyway, tis funny and you'll get to hear Mark Watson, Dan Antopolski, Jo Neary, Justin Edwards &c &c.....)
