shewho: (stalker!)
inspired by a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] catsgomiaow over the weekend, itself inspired in turn by one of those freaky trigger dudes listening to everything i do sixteen times in a row (it's no thunder road, kids) and because i have some stupid inability to post somewhere new...

who wants some christian slater fan art??

i blimming loved robin hood: prince of thieves. yes, mainly because of mr slater. it was the first video i ever bought for myself, indeed, i think i saved up for it. (mentioned somewhere in those teenage diaries and all...)

i watched it repeatedly. and at one point i paused it, so i could do a water colour portrait of will scarlet. now, i had a little look around the flat for my ancient a3 sketch pad and came away empty handed, so i fear it is Long Gone, alas, but luckily for you i seem to have already scanned it into an ancient photobucket account.

it is worse than i remember: )

when he starred in one flew over the cuckoo's nest in the west end i was determined to meet him. (see icon.) i also considered taking this along for him to sign. (you may remember me posting here about it.) with the benefit of hindsight, i'm pretty glad i didn't.

(i did manage to get myself ONE AWAY from him in a kissing way, ask me further in real life.)

and here is a bonus piece of 'art' )

***

you know that beach in the video for everything i do? it's in the uk somewhere. devon or cornwall or similar. my mum and brothers went there, and brought me back a rock / big pebble. i used it as a door stop for YEARS.

dear christian, if you're reading this, will you marry me now?

my audio-typing headphones are WELL weird. they appear to make more noise if i put them *on* my ears, rather than *in* my ears. music directly through my bone, perhaps. you may have gathered i'm not audio typing. no, i'm doing my supertramp homework. well, it's another nobody-in-the-office day, so i can't really hide in my filing room just in case the phone rings. sssh.

***

ooh, any recommendations for vaguely posh 'treaty' restaurants for a bunch of croydon reprobates? centralish? not too fussy, one COMPLETELY RUBBISH vegetarian who apparently likes chicken and bacon. the (extended) sibs (plus partners) and i feel like rampaging (sedately) around town.

***

last night i went to a pub, to say a brief hello to (temporarily in the country) [livejournal.com profile] verlaine, have my first CCP in a long time, and bounce around so much in an overexcited fashion with slater joy that even strange old men at the bar were commenting on it. oh dear. i'm a small child when it comes to certain things. and never really able to hide my emotions. what you see is what you get, even if it is ridiculously annoying, sorry!

anyway, yes, more importantly last night i stalked my second husband (to be) went to see swimming with sharks at the vaudeville theatre, starring mr s as buddy ackerman. now, (despite [livejournal.com profile] barrysarll's best efforts) i have never seen the actual film, so didn't really know what to expect. slater isn't really stretched, playing a hollywood hot shot that shouts a lot, but you know, he's very good at what he does, and if it ain't broke, why fix it? i must admit, i am *always* mesmerised by his charisma.

i didn't realise it would be so funny, so a pleasant surprise to sit and chuckle throughout. they've clearly updated reference points and stuff, i'm sure paris hilton wouldn't be mentioned in the original. the second half was less good, but i suppose there's a lot more you can do on film rather than on stage.

my seats were EXCELLENT, i didn't need my glasses. Best Present i have EVER given myself, i think.

***

vaguely considered heading back to the pub afterwards, it being only 10pm, as it was i was home and scrabbling before 11, in bed by half past, having had only a pint and a half all evening.

so why is it this morning i felt like death and almost overslept my tube stop, hmmm?

I like that :)

Other things I like and will recommend wholeheartedly to all:

♥ sunday dim sum at The Royal China. Tastiest dim sum I have EVER eaten, and a veritable banquet is deliciously inexpensive.

♥ sitting in parks.

Pappagone pizza and chilli oil.

♥ Pappagone in general - impromptu cheese plates!

NOT watching Alone in the Dark, which is a pretty bad film. Still, I watch worse on Hallmark, and Slater gets his top off.*

♥ that lovely Nikita (?) girl on X Factor, singing her heart out for her (deceased) mother and giving me goosebumps.

♥ Paul Foot's ideas for his 'Guild of Connoissers'. Murder mystery fun! Hiring himself out to turn up to random things! Medaeval banquets! **

* I am going off Slater. Yes, yes, about time. But really, either he is the most professional actor in the world (performing straight and pretty well in such a lame film), or he actually thought it was good. And having seen his over-the-top-shouty-american-enthusiasm on Britain's Top Model I'm plumping for the latter.

** I cannot recommend Paul Foot's comedy I am afraid.

Have I missed the apocalypse? All normal here. Well, apparently Hackney was burning or similar this morning, making my train late, but that is par for the course really.

****

Return to the Monday Club last night, hurrah! Still makes me feel sick and afeared for my life, but the line ups are worth it. Plus, there is a member of bar staff called Fenella. I didn't realise people were really called that! Brilliant name. I love names. I quite fancy a new one. Suggestions?

Anyhoo, last night we had Robin Ince compereing (oh now! how the FLIP do you spell that?) - I am starting to feel a little like a stalker, Craig Campbell, who is very beardy and makes me VERY HUNGRY for cheese*, Simon Amstell**, who was not as smooth as normal, (which is fair, cos new material = +++), Kitty Flanagan, who I haven't actually heard of before but was better than I expected, not my favourite though, and Phil Nicol, ranting about being called a homophobe by Scott Capurro. I like him more and more each time, and quite frankly, he is my favourite R P McMurphy.***

****

Today I feel a little like my chair is rocking. Sea sick. Stupid boat!

* Oh god oh god oh god, I don't have any cheese for lunch!
** He vanity searches himself on the internet! Do *all* comedians do this thing? Anyway, I wish Simon Amstell was my friend, and sometimes I wish I had his hair. Is that wrong?
*** Yes I know. Better than Slater. My somewhat obsession. I know. Ssssh, don't tell him I said this. I've gone off him a little anyway, he appears to have TERRIBLE taste in women.
